Using Products At Home To Cure Tonsillitis

By Anne Scots

We all learn from childhood that if we have swollen tonsils it would literally hurt to gulp. Some grown-ups say that we get sick from taking too many sweets or by drinking too cold drinks and ice cream. In reality, tonsillitis is either a viral or bacterial infection. Anyone can have tonsillitis, but it is more prevalent in children and young people. Fortunately, it is not serious or fatal even though it is a common condition. It goes away without medical treatment after several days provided that it does not have complications. You can do self-treatment at home, though, to accelerate your recovery and reduce the pain.

You can treat your tonsillitis by drinking antibiotics if it is from bacterial infection. If it's viral, you can prepare natural home cures to eliminate it and alleviate the pain.

The most popular home treatment is the salt and warm water gargle. Add around two spoonfuls of table salt to your lukewarm water and gargle the solution. Many people guarantee its efficiency, claiming it helps ease the soreness.

Other common gargle mixtures are the fenugreek seeds mixture and the mustard powder gargle mixture. Prepare the fenugreek seeds by boiling it with water. Allow the mixture to cool down before rinsing your throat with it. As for the mustard powder solution, mix the powder with hot water. Gargle it to clean out the infection-causing germs in the tonsils.

Another easy-to-make natural home solution for tonsillitis is heated milk with a dash of turmeric powder. Turmeric is a natural remedy for tonsil soreness because of its anti-bacterial and anti-viral components. If you don't like to drink milk, you can just prepare a paste mixture by combining turmeric roots with warm water. Apply the solution around your throat externally.

Drinking hot teas with honey are also effective cure for tonsillitis, as well as drinking vegetable juices. Stay hydrated by drinking ice-cold beverages to help numb the throat. Also, as true with other diseases, avoid irritants like cigarette smoke during recuperation period.
